How do YOU stay in shape over the summer? With all that the Portland/Vancouver area has to offer, there are certainly many fun outdoor activities to choose from.
We have many skaters interested in organizing and attending some off-ice dryland workouts this summer, so if you’re interested, add your name to the list by sending us an email. We’ll be in touch.

Every year we assemble a crew of volunteers to work at the annual Providence Bridge Pedal This year the event is on Sunday, August 10th. I will be sending out emails to get people signed up. Here’s what we need:
Hawthorne Bridge Crew:
Saturday (Matt Furcron + 5 more) 5pm – 9pm
Sunday (Linda Jellison + 5 more) 10am – 1pm
McLoughlin Coning Crew – 3 people
Macadam Coning Crew – 3 people
Last Practice Session this Season will be:
Sunday, April 27th, 8:45am – 10:00am

Time to drive north to Tacoma for the Washington State 2014 Short Track Speed Skating Championship!
- Date: March 30, 2014 (Sunday) from 1:30 p.m. until ~ 6:00 p.m.
- Location: Puget Sound Hockey Center, 1918 Stewart Street, Tacoma, WA, 98421
- Check-In: 1:30 p.m. ~ 1:45 p.m. (2nd Floor)
- Warm Ups: 2:00 p.m. ~ 2:20 p.m.
- Racing: 2:30 p.m. ~ 5:30 p.m.
- Entry Fee: $30 per skater ($70 maximum per family)
- Meet Director: Chang Lee (Club Coach)
SAVE THE DATE: This year’s Providence Bridge Pedal is Sunday, August 10. This is our primary annual fundraising event, so I will be rounding up our volunteer crews! We are responsible for putting down plywood on one lane of the Hawthorne Bridge, and coning the routes on Macadam and McLoughlin.

March 2 Skate Sharpening Session!
There will be a skate sharpening session after we get off the ice this Sunday (March 2). If you have a sharpening jig and stones, please bring them! Otherwise, we can sharpen your blades and show you how it’s done. Please see this video for a preview – taken at our summer dryland working / picnic a couple of years ago.
U.S. Men Earn Silver Medal in 5000 meter Relay!

The Talent Development Camp returns for 2014 Junior B athletes (2014-2015) meeting the selection criteria and returning athletes will be invited to attend. Camp dates: July 14-19 at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Full details including selection criteria for 2014 available this spring.
Club Performance Camp at the Richmond Olympic Oval. For club skaters T2T and up, participating in a competitive stream. Camp dates: July 28-August 1 at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The Puget Sound Speedskating Club hosted the 2013 Washington State Championship competition on Sunday, December 15, 2013, from 1:00 until 6:30 p.m. in Tacoma, WA.
